Brewing 101

Brewing loose leaf herbal tea in a teapot is a delightful ritual that enhances your experience with each cup. Begin by gathering your materials, which include fresh, filtered water, a kettle, and your favourite loose leaf herbal tea. To achieve the ideal flavour, measure a heaped teaspoon of tea leaves for every cup of water you plan to brew. As you prepare, bring the water to a boil, ensuring it reaches a temperature around 200°F (93°C), just below boiling. Preheating your teapot by swirling hot water inside it will help maintain the temperature of your brew, allowing the flavours to develop beautifully.

Once your teapot is ready, place the measured tea leaves in the infuser and pour the hot water over them, making sure the leaves are fully submerged. Steep the tea for about 4-5 minutes; this is where the magic happens as the water extracts the rich flavours and aromas from the leaves. After steeping, remove the infuser to prevent bitterness from over-extraction. Pour the fragrant brew into your favourite teacups or mugs, savouring the moment as you enjoy the soothing warmth. While many herbal teas shine on their own, feel free to enhance your cup with a touch of honey or lemon if desired. This holistic approach to brewing tea not only nurtures your body but also invites a moment of peace and mindfulness into your day.
